This particular Evante MkII was manufactured in 1991 but remained unregistered until sold in 1999. One of only 8 known to exist. Built with a carbon fibre/Kevlar body (as used in bullet-proof vests) for both strength and lightness. Brilliant red complimented by a beautiful Cream Leather interior with a walnut dash and door cappings. When new this car cost well over ¢€Å¡£20,000. It was stored for most of it's life - hence the very low mileage of 1500 miles. The vehicle today looks as good as the day it drove out of the factory in Spalding. It looks like an Elan - as it very nearly is. The Evante was produced in limited numbers as a complete car. After VeganTune had for many years made replacement Spyder chassis's for the sought-after Lotus Elan.They decided to reproduce the Elan so VeganTune became Evante Cars in 1986 but it improved upon the original design and layout, using a tougher tubular chassis with a double wish-bone set up,and using a more sumptuous interior and a more powerful engine. In 1990 the company used the Ford Zetec twin-cam, Kent 16-valve engine. This necessitated a revised chassis and at the same time the rear end was restyled. By the time the final cars were built, of which this is one, a Ford five-speed gearbox, fuel injection and a catalytic converter were fitted. The engine was upgraded to produce 140bhp at 6500rpm. If you are looking for an Evante I do not believe you will find a better example. The history folder contains DVLA paperwork, V5 docs current and previous, current and previous MOT tests, the Evante catalogue and write-up, photos of the car, correspondence and letters,ious invoices and insurance paperwork. The factory made 100 Evante MKI cars but only 8 MkII versions. It is a Lotus Elan-eater and for anyone who loves the original Elan - this gives you the same fun feeling and driving experiance,but with reliabilty and low running costs. This is a true collector's item.
