1973 Lancia Fulvia - LHD (currently registered in Italy to my father-in-law) This car has been at the garage for the last 3 years to make it UK roadworthy. Having spent over £2,500 on new parts and labour I have now run out of money to finish off the project. The stalling part has been the engine block and in particular the pistons and pistons rings. The engine block is currently out pending either a new engine altogether or repair of the old block. The shell is really not bad structurally. It really needs a paint job. The upper surfaces are very chalky and discoloured, while there are various chips and blemishes elsewhere. Except for the actual crankcase and crankshaft, the engine is out and stripped. After having sat like that for a while the crankcase and shaft will have to come out too. The reason is that the crankshaft has hollow big end journals that act as sludge traps. These will have dried out and the deposits of crud inside them may well have loosened. There is a serious risk that if they are not cleaned out the first time the engine is started the crud could be forced through the new bearings thus damaging them. Options include fitting a running second hand engine. I can supply a full list of the work carried out so far on request. Clearly this is a project and a suitable buyer would probably be someone with the skills and know how to get this beauty on the road again.
