1921 Citroen Type A

Conceived during the First World War, Andre Citroen presented Europe's first production car to the public in 1918, the Citroen Type A. This saloon Type A (conduite interieure) is a very rare model, most were bodied as open tourers. She was registered in 1921 and probably sold in Paris as two Parisian theatre tickets were found in the lining of the doors dated late 1920s. At some time the rear part of the saloon body was removed and the car converted to a working flatbed truck. It was bought in the 1990s in Northern France by a well known Citroen rear wheel drive enthusiast who imported it to the UK and started the restoration which was completed in 2010. The car was then Mot-ed and sold to me. I have run the engine in and have not found any problems with the mechanicals over the 300 or so miles that I have driven her. The engine, clutch and gearbox were re-built with new pistons, bearings etc. Chassis painted, new wheels, new tyres and kingpins, indicators etc. Though mechanically sound the interior was completed in a very basic, though usable, style and needs to be redone in my opinion to bring the car up to what she could be. The paintwork has some small dings but nothing major and the odometer needs to be connected to the shaft. All in all, she is a solid car that has past her last two MOTs with no advisories and can be driven and used but needs finishing. I already have another early Citroen and will be losing garage space so something has to go and the car is now being sold at a lower price. Please contact me for more detailed information and photos.
