The Porsche 914-6 was a limited production run of 3360 cars produced between 1970 and 1972, all of which were left hand drive with a 5 speed gearbox and a flat 6, 2.0 litre engine giving 95bhp. However, Porsche also made 50 factory GT cars and 400 GT 'kits' to allow customers to upgrade their cars, which coincided with their works entry to the 1970 Le Mans with a 914-6 GT, where it won it's class and finished 6th overall.
This car was produced for the USA market in California as a 914-6 in 1970 and then upgraded with a kit to 'GT' specification. This kit consisted of front oil cooler, steel wheel arch extensions with larger 16" Fuchs wheels (7" front and 9" rear) and tyres, revised front and rear bumpers, revised door sills, fibreglass bonnet and boot, adjustable rear roll bar, adjustable coil over Bilstein dampers, and an 'SS' exhaust.
The car was stripped and restored about 10 years ago and the engine was then upgraded to a 911 3.2 Carrera engine (with 'side change' gear linkage). Imported to the UK in 2006, ongoing set up and maintainance has been provided by respected marque specialist, Jaz Porsche. As recently as 2010 - Jaz invoiced ongoing maintenance and work to the value of over £5,000 - and today the car presents, drives and sounds truly superbly.
All UK import taxes are paid and the car has UK registration with a V5C, 10 months MOT and historic road tax. This car offers real value for money today, either as a fast classic road car or as the basis for an exciting racing or rally project.
