This is Build 1 - the very first PS and our press car. It is the start of the PS story and a piece of history in itself. There will never be another.
The original remit was simple; to build a car that echoed the styling of the 1973 2.7 RS, but that outperformed an original in every way and was still robust enough for daily use.
The press adored it :
The engine pulls like the proverbial steam train, the tail sinks into the tarmac, the nose goes a touch light and tacho races round to the redline with the pace and enthusiasm of a Porsche half its age. ¢' GT Porsche
It's a very pleasing piece of kit. Weighing under 1100kg with 236bhp at its disposal and terrific torque from little more than idle, it feels at least as quick as any standard 2.7 RS I've driven. The brakes feel race-car good, the handling classic 911 ¢' Autocar
Hit the throttle as soon as you can, and then feel first the rumble of the torque and then the high-end push as the power comes in. Find a good twisty piece of road, repeat, and you'll be in classic-Porsche heaven. - 911 and Porsche World
I let the 240C slightly off its leash and plant my foot down in second. The gates to Hades open and all hell breaks loose as the rear squats down and the exhaust pipes give it all they've got. Oh the noise! The noise it makes is just sensational. ¢' Total 911
The car is based on the galvanised chassis of a 1982/3 911 SC which we stripped back to bare metal and rebuilt to lightweight spec.
The bumpers and engine lid are lightweight GRP with the bonnet being made from steel to ensure a perfect fit. The wheels are our own 3 piece split-rim PS Classics, with the centres finished in PS Orange.
The engine was carefully rebuilt using lightened internals to give the engine the same quick-revving character as the 2.7 RS. The 'box was rebuilt to factory spec. Brakes are uprated with vented and drilled discs.
The interior features lightweight carpeting and door cards, period style seats and four-point PS harness belts. A half-cage and front strut-brace add rigidity and leather trimmed dash and door tops bring a little comfort to the feel. PS gauges are fitted, with period style aluminium centres and a 180mph speedometer. A leather trimmed 14" Moto-Lita wheel lends the perfect blend of delicacy and robustness to the helm.
The car has worn the ageless registration 364MMA since build and this is included in the sale.
We are delighted to welcome this important car back, it now having covered 13,000 miles.
It is in excellent order throughout and will be fully prepared, freshly serviced and MoTd prior to sale.
This represents an opportunity to own a genuine part of PS history at a fraction of a price of the new build and without the 12 month wait.
