For sale on behalf of a customer, this UK spec RHD type 85 coupe has the purer bodyshape without the flared wheelarches but with the large rear spoiler. Professionally restored over the course of the last year, it is now ready for action. With only 96k recorded miles (approx 150k kilometres) it was one of the cars which was galvanised from new. Nonetheless, it has been completely stripped, had a glass out total respray and underseal and a replacement period interior in matching anthracite cloth with grey tweed inserts. The alloys have been replaced, again with correct, matching wheels in black (genuine 4-stud Ronals, worth over a thousand euros!). These set the car off beautifully. The car has had an exceptional number of new parts fitted: struts, springs, wheel bearings, belts, starter motor, rear discs and pads, etc, the list goes on.

Very early in its life the engine was subject to a GTi Engineering upgrade to 2.5 litres at less than 5k miles. This is a legitimate and most acceptable improvement and the engine plate verifying the change in specification is included in the pictures. The car has a fully stamped VW/Audi service book and an authentic, original factory '666' reg. This is a stunning but very useable classic indeed.
