1977 SWB Petrol Land Rover. Albion Classic Cars offers a fully renovated Short Wheel Base petrol Land Rover with cab, together with a comprehensive history of use as from 1989 when it graced the streets of London, until recently when it arrived in Greece. You will see from the stills photographs that the renovation was from the ground up, and included extensive work both to the mechanical parts and to the bodywork. Specification: This is a standard 88 right hand drive petrol unit, first registered in the UK on 17th November 1977. It is fully 4 x 4 with adjustable front hubs, with a low ratio transfer gearbox with internal lever. It has 93,337 miles on the clock, and the standard 2286 cc engine is powerful, with a Weber carburetter. New mechanical parts include a petrol tank, nearside front spring, with new ball joints on the track end steering. Tires suspension and running gear are in good condition, as is the gearbox and the transmission. Renovation: The vehicle has been completely resprayed including all the metal and aluminum parts above and underneath the body. Any rusty or damaged parts have been replaced and treated for future rust, but it transpired that most of the bodywork was solid with few dents or scratches, just thirty five years of wear and tear. The respray also included the detachable roof; both inside and out. The vehicle now has new seats and dashboard shelf, plus an expensive Exmoor Trim sound proofing rubber floor system, situated in the front cab. In the rear the floors and sides are covered with aluminum textured panels, with the occasional seat to one side. The spare tire is also presently in the rear compartment, but can be moved in the future to the bonnet, if required. Overall: Before the renovation began the Land Rover was fully serviced by an experienced Greek engineer, and after the renovation was completed the whole electrical system was ether repaired or replaced. The lighting system now conforms to European standards; so no more flashing lights. The heater works, as do all the knobs and buttons and internal light, and it starts first time. There are no signs of extensive noise, the vehicle being substantially re-engineered in London prior to its journey to Greece. The vehicle has been severally owned by me or my son since 1989, and is now as good as new! It is presently unregistered.
