Up for sale is my much loved 1989 205 gti, black, sunroof model, MOT until February 2012, currently SORN. 170k miles but this should not put you off need to give a bit of background about this particular car.
I bought the car from Just Gtis back in 2006 and the car was offered with a 3 month warranty. In the warranty period it became clear that the engine was burning quite a bit of oil and the gearbox crunched between 3rd and 4th.
As a result Just Gtis supplied and fitted a re-built engine and also a replacement gearbox. I decided to get a gas-flowed head and sports cam fitted when the engine was replaced this work was also carried out by Just Gtis. Given the gearbox was out it made sense to replace the clutch at the same time. This was all done at about 147k miles.
Very recently I have replaced the rear beam which has had a part re-build with many new parts including new hubs on each end. The beam was lowered and I have also lowered the front suspension with SPAX 50mm springs. Even more recently I have replaced the battery, ignition coil, ignition module.
Other than the lowered suspension the car looks completely standard and is in all-round great condition. Paintwork is great and the interior is about as good as you will find one of these with the front seats in brilliant shape very unusual on these cars now. I have personally spent a lot of time on the car and done jobs like replacing all the back-lights on the dash. All the big jobs on this car have been done, cylinder head gasket and cam-belt was replaced only a few thousand miles ago as well.
Throughout my ownership of the car I have spent thousands on new or upgraded parts below is a list of the main parts (some already described) but this is by no means an exhaustive list.
- Replacement rebuilt engine gas-flowed head and sports cam
- Clutch
- Radiator
- Starter motor

The car will also come with a box of spares including a water-pump that I was going to change when the cam-belt was done but turned out this had been replaced fairly recently.
I hope this gives you a flavour of what I have put into this car please email me or give me a call if you want any more details. I will sorely miss this car but a change in circumstances means I have to let it go. I want to see the car go to a good home.
