This lovely little light van is back with us after a spell in Scotland and it is a real treat to have it in stock again. Much rarer than the ubiquitous Minor or even the Austin A35, these sidevalve Fords are hard to find in any condition, let alone as nice as this one. 863 CTU is its original (transferable) number and it was registered in May 1958. The buff log book states that it was delivered in Green Primer before being painted its current dove grey. The second and third owners were both farmers and it seems to have gone the way of so many farm vehicles and been used until it broke down and was pushed into a barn. A photograph of it 'as found' is in the file before it was restored around 2003-5. There are bills for various panels incuding sills and inner wings, along with sundry repair sections, plus a full respray inside and out. It has picked up a few minor knocks and scrapes since but is still in very good overall condition. The sparse interior is mostly original; there is some damage to the passenger seat but it is worth preserving.

Mechanically it is in lovely order. We bought it originally from a retired garage owner and sidevalve Ford enthusiast who was reducing his collection. He had rebuilt the 1172cc engine and got it properly sorted and it runs and drives beautifully. It has been in regular service in recent times as a genuinely useful little runabout and we are told it never fails to draw a crowd. This is a gem for the Ford collector or the perfect promotional tool for a small business. It would also look wonderful as a support vehicle at Goodwood and other historic events. My colleagues are pressing me hard to keep it as our own company van so grab it before I change my mind!
