The Porsche 956 and 962 is already acknowledged as the most successful sportscar of all time - and this particular car raced new in several of the most iconic and stunning liveries, actually achieving the last 2nd place in a world champioship round for the 962, against very strong oposition. They were designed and built to endure then current Grand Prix drivers to race flat out for 24 hours, but also catered for privateer teams to run them easily, and with every chance to win long distance races. The cars even featured an all synchromesh gearbox which now makes it the most exciting and easy to drive collectors item you could imagine. To experience a Porsche 962 around a flowing circuit like Spa is the 'ultimate' track day experience and, of course, it can also be raced in the two driver endurance races. One such event is the feature support race for the current Le Mans 24 hrs that has been a feature of the fast growing Group C Racing series of today. These events can also offer the opportunity to share the car with a hero driver from the era in which the car first raced. Next to the factory Rothmans team, who withdrew mid way through 1987, the Brun team was the most successful in world sportscar racing, actually beating both Rothmans Porsche and Silk Cut Jaguar factory teams to the world championship in 1986. This particular car is a very rare, part carbon, part aluminium honeycomb bespoke Thompson chassis example. This particular spec of chassis was comissioned and uniquely built for the front running Brun team. It was built new and raced as a Hydro Aluminium for the 1989 season and at Le Mans in 1990. In 1989, it ran as the yellow From A car at Le Mans. 1989 Season 9 Apr: 480KM Suzuka: H. Huysman/J. Varjosaari, #5; DNF. HYDRO ALUMINUM. 21 May: Coupe de Dijon: H. Huysman/U.
