Lot number 43 Estimate £10,000 - £12,000 Description Daimler V8 250 Registration UPA 459F Year 1968 Colour Red Engine size 2,548 cc Chassis No. P1K2341BW Engine No. 7K2410 One of two Daimler V8 250 models in our sale today, this April 1968 car has been in the current ownership for some 18 years (although it was recently briefly re-registered to a friend so the V5C does not make this length of ownership immediately clear). About eight years ago the car was treated to a good deal of renovation including a bare metal respray in Carmen Red and an interior retrim in cream leather with red piping. About 18 months ago the engine was rebuilt and hardened valve seats fitted to make it suitable for unleaded fuel. Many other mechanical components were renewed or rebuilt at the same time with the emphasis on making it reliable for regular use. Stainless steel wire wheels and exhaust system have also recently been fitted. Currently taxed and with an MOT until June 2010, the car is said to be very dependable with no known vices and to drive beautifully – last September it completed a round trip to Germany with no problems whatsoever. The 2 1/2 V8 turned out to be a fine performer, its 110mph top speed exceeding that of the overdrive 2.4-litre Jaguar Mk II by some margin. The 1967 introduction of the Jaguar 240/340 'updates' also saw the Daimler renamed as the V8 250.
