Wonderful Hawk AC Replica Cobra 289 MK1. It is generally accepted that the Hawk / ACE kits are the most authentic, since the attention to detail is very high. The chassis is a good copy of the 3" tubular chassis used by AC on the original Ace / Aceca / Cobra 260 / Cobra 289, which allows the bodyshell to also follow the lines of the original Cobra 260 / 289 very closely indeed. The engine and gearbox are Rover V8 3,5 Liter. The all-alloy Rover V8 engine is over 110 kgs lighter than the original Ford 289. This car has been restored and always perfectly maintained by ATS: The best French cobra specialist. ATS team is the only one shop in the world to get Shelby's official approval to convert Roadster AC Cobras into Daytona coupes. There is not very much to say, as the car is perfect in every aspect: cosmetic and mechanics. It is available for sale in France, with a British registration. Carroll Shelby, the Texan racing driver, came up with an unlikely alliance beween AC Cars and the Ford Motor Company, the AC Ace providing the simple twin-tube chassis frame - supplied with four-wheel disc brakes for the Cobra, into which Ford inserted their small-block V8. Production ran to just 1,029 cars between 1962 and 1968, starting again in 1980 with the MkIV when Autokraft acquired the AC brand.. . .
