A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire the most desirable of all Austin Healey Sprite models.

One of only six examples (including a 'prototype'), produced by the redoubtable Sprite exponent John Sprinzel at the beginning of 1961, with alloy coupe bodywork by the renowned Williams & Pritchard Ltd.

This particular example - registered 410 EAO, was owned and driven by the late Andrew Hedges during the 1961 season, competing under the 'Scuderia Light Blue' banner. EAO featured a 995 c.c. B.M.C. A-series unit, built by legendary tuning specialist Don Moore of Cambridge. The car was placed on many occasions in Andrew's hands and served to launch his career as the most successful M.G. 'works' driver, post-war.

EAO was discovered in 1990 in a dilapidated condition by Sprite and Midget expert Jonathan Whitehouse-Bird. A highly detailed and accurate, 19 year restoration followed, returning the car to its original 1961 specification.

Serious enquires only, are invited from parties interested in the purchase of this historic racing car.

Some History of the Austin Healey Sprite

To keep costs low Healey made use of existing BMC parts, as the car was designed to be a low cost sports-car in replacement to the pre-war Austin Seven/7.

The Mark I Sprite featured a distinctive bonnet topped by two 'frog-eye' headlamps, defining the model's instant recognition (and earning it the nickname the ‘Austin Frogeye’ and ‘Austin Bugeye’ in the U.K and U.S respectively).
