The Excellence of Porsche Ragley Hall Sunday 9th September 2007 Lot 126 1976 Porsche 911 2.7 Coupe Registration no: OGV 273P Chassis no: WPOZZZ91Z16300962 Estimate: £6,500-9,000 Lot 126 1976 Porsche 911 2.7 Registration Number: OGV 273P Chassis Number: WPOZZZ91Z1630 The 1974 model year saw three significant changes to Porsche's evergreen 911. Firstly the engine size was increased to 2,687cc giving a welcome increase in torque, secondly impact bumpers were introduced to conform with the low speed protection requirements of American law - these bumpers being so successfully integrated into the design that they remained unchanged for 15 years - and thirdly K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection was installed on the 911 and 911S models. These two now had a detuned version of the Carrera RS's engine producing 150bhp and 175bhp respectively and, unlike the top of the range Carrera which had wider rear wheels and was still fuelled via mechanical fuel injection, they retained the narrow rear wings of the old 2.4 models. Manufactured in 1976, this left hand drive 911 2.7, originally delivered to Luxembourg, was imported to Great Britain in 1990 and from new has had just five owners. In 2003 the car had an engine rebuild by a marque specialist and recently it underwent a full service when it was fitted with new tyres, battery and rear exhaust silencer. Since this Porsche has been with the vendor it has always been garaged and well maintained and it is described as being in good condition, helped by the fact that the body is galvanised. Finished in white with an interior in period tan cloth with tartan inserts, it is supplied with a V5 registration document, service history and a road fund licence and MoT test certificate both valid until December this year. Estimate £6,500-£9,000 |
