This Triumph Spitfire has been sold in the Porsche, Lotus and Richard Lloyd Collection auction - Bonhams auction house on Saturday 26 July 2008, and sold for £24,150
Some History of the Triumph Spitfire
Since the Spitfire was intended to be an inexpensive small sports car, trim levels were basic; including rubber mats and a large plastic steering wheel, although wind-up windows were standard as opposed to the Austin-Healey which had static side-screens. Early models of the Spitfire were known as the Triumph Spitfire 4, although this is not the same as the later Mk4. Over time subtle changes were made to the Spitfire to make the car more refined, these included the option of an 'overdrive' on the gear box for more relaxed touring, the option of wire wheels and a hard top.
