Bristol Classic Car Show Auction Auction - Charterhouse Auction House

Richard Hudson-Evans says, All the higher priced lots were snapped up at the second Charterhouse sale of the season which was held on the Sunday of the three day Bristol Classic Car Show at the Royal Bath and West Showground, reports Richard Hudson-Evans. For what is always one of the best attended fixtures on the West Country collector vehicle calendar, this was a successful re-run as the first attempt to stage the event earlier in the season had had to be abandoned when the Shepton Mallet venue and surrounding area became water-logged.
It was certainly mission accomplished for a couple from the Midlands who drove their 1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 with Robert Keeble 4-Seater Tourer coachwork down to Somerset for the auction to see it sell for a premium-inclusive £32,200. The same vendors’ 1935 Bentley 3½-Litre Hooper-bodied 4-Door Sports Saloon also made £32,200 here.
A Devon enthusiast successfully thinned his portfolio, selling a restored 1975 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 with ZF 5-speed manual box for £26,220, a still original 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo for £11,840 and a freshly painted 1995 Jaguar XJS Convertible for £11,500.
The Dorset auctioneers were also promoting the consignment of an ex-Emperor Hirohito of Japan Rolls-Royce. The 1922 Silver Ghost, which has a guide price of £150,000-200,000, goes under their hammer Sunday 19 July during the Classics at the Castle weekend at Sherborne Castle.
