Richard Hudson-Evans says, Occupying their usual marquee at Yenston, beside the rail track just outside Templecombe in extremely rural Somerset, Brian Chant’s DVCA sold a 3-owner 1933 Brough-Superior 11-50 with 1096cc JAP V-twin for a more than forecast £30,800, reports Richard Hudson-Evans. Joint top sellers amongst the cars meanwhile, just over half of which changed hands, were a 1951 MG TD Roadster restored in 1994 with 5-speed gearbox upgrade and a 1993 Bentley Brooklands converted to run on LPG raised £15,400 apiece.
The catalogue cover 1930 Morris Minor 5cwt Van, ripe for the next makeover and unsold under the hammer, was eventually sold afterwards for £10,500. A very aerodynamically slippery for 1950 Nash Ambassador Custom with rust blemished matt paintwork raised a near top estimate £4400 from a Swiss telephone bidder. A shiny 1971 Triumph Stag Roadster with ZF 4-speed auto conversion and a 1995 Dodge Ram Sport pick-up left-hooker both made £3740.
Whilst classic Ford prices logged here included a 1961 Consul 375 Deluxe sold for £3520, a 1989 Capri 2.0GL auto for £1300 and a 1967 Corsair with 1969 Corsair 1.7 and spare 2000E engine thrown in for spares for £1250.
